New Update to the Grantee Profile Page – Unique Entity Identifier

In compliance with the Federal government transitioning from using DUNS numbers to Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), The MDOT MVA Highway Safety Office is requiring grant applicants to provide their agency’s UEI as part of their FFY 2022 application. This number is obtained by the same agency to whom your current DUNS number belongs, so you may need to check with your parent agency to find this number. Because this transition is happening over the course of the FFY 2022 grant period, once your agency obtains their EUI number you will need to provide it to MDOT MVA Highway Safety Office (no later than April 30, 2022) so the number can be loaded into GPS in order to process your agency’s claims.

What is a Unique Entity Identifier? A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is a unique number assigned to all entities (public and private companies, individuals, institutions, or organizations) who register to do business with the federal government. The above link contains more information about UEIs.
Government Transition from DUNS Number to New Unique Entity Identifier Extended: By April of 2022, the federal government will stop using the DUNS number to uniquely identify entities registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). At that point, entities doing business with the federal government will use a unique entity identifier (UEI) created in SAM.gov. They will no longer have to go to a third-party website to obtain their identifier. Active registrants will have their UEI assigned and viewable within SAM.gov; there is no action for registered entities to take at this time. This transition allows GSA to streamline the entity identification and validation process, making it easier and less burdensome for entities to do business with the federal government.
